makana and isaac |
About this time, if Isaac were here, we would be opening presents and making jokes about canes and glasses (especially since he already has glasses). We would be polishing off the cake and ice cream, making ourselves sick.
If Isaac were here, I wouldn't be in a empty, slightly messy living room, talking to him through the computer. About this time, we would be on a sugar high, examining the presents, and making not very funny jokes that suddenly became hilarious.
But Isaac is not here.
He is away at college, missing The Big Island like the dickens, I think. Maybe even missing us. ;)
Isaac, my biggest and oldest brother, has been the awesome-est brother for about 15 years and half, tying only with my other two brothers. Here is seven things about him that make him, him. Sometimes horribly annoying (never on purpose) and mostly the loveliest brother.
1. He is a hipster... not even on purpose. He has to do things his way. If you ask him to do something, he likes to do it differently, just for the sake of doing it differently (or maybe, not the way you asked).
2. His constant, yet ever-changing companion is his hair. It is always with him, and yet, looks different every morning after he rolls out of bed. You could call it bed-hair... I like to think that his hair is an artistic individual who likes to express itself with a bit of zest.
3. He is a genius at music. If he were here he would be playing music right now, and probably getting shouted out by my sisters to go to bed. And...
4. A genius, period. He used to read the encyclopedias when he was little... for fun. (who does that?)
5. He is an introvert... more so than any of the rest of my family. He will be the one who doesn't run over someone else's sentence.
6. He is a bit of an Eeyore... And secretly, I think he enjoys it.
7. He is the best oldest brother in the world. Literally.
Happy Birthday, dear brother, we miss you like the dickens, too!

P.S. Just a question for you lovely commenters, do you prefer if I responded to your comment here, or on your blog? I just want to make sure you guys get the chance to read my responses, and it distresses me so if I don't think you guys received it. ;)
Nice post. Brothers are the best =)
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I think it's annoying when someone responds to a comment I left on their blog by commenting back on my blog. But that's just me.
Yes, it's so nice to have someone who agrees with me on this. I'd much rather get a response on their blog then simply go to my blog to respond to a comment. ;)

Rebekah

DeleteYeah, I agree, too!

Well, I hope Isaac had a great birthday! It's far too ironic that my dad's birthday is April 24th, too! Since he was here, we had chocolate cake and ice cream and all gained about five pounds. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny how similar our older brothers are. Though I am going to have to challenge that last point, because in my book, Nathan's the best older brother in the world. ;) Ahaha.
Love the kiddy picture of you guys. :)
Smiles,
you know who
Yeah, I don't think it was that great in his opinion, but I'm sure he's glad he's back home (even though we're on Oahu;) Don't you love being fat? I'm definitely getting tubby here at my Grandparents house.
DeleteI know, it's kinda freaky, actually. Is Nathan back yet?
I know, read Micah's comment below. ;)

Man, that picture...Napua looks like a sleep depraved vampire. You look a bit shell shocked, and I look glazed. I think Kalei and Isaac win. :P

Haha, maybe old brothers are made of the same stuff. ;)
